There are two purposes behind the existence of wallpapers and these are on the following aspects: design and entertainment. The freedom given to users on which wallpaper to use reflects one’s choice of design and look for his or her computer. Wallpapers are made to design computer backgrounds which vary depending on the user’s choice of look. Nonetheless, a wide variety of options that appear to be all creatively designed are presented for users’ consumption. Another purpose of these is for entertainment. Nowadays, one can even enjoy playing games with one’s chosen wallpaper. This alone shows that there is an ongoing development towards providing options that are more applicable to today’s generation. It is a fact that those things that are more interactive and enjoyable are definitely supported by the majority. Wallpapers will continue to widen and develop into different categories and designs which will still indeed encourage numerous users to support its use.

Changing wallpaper for windows is quite simple and involves a process that can be done in a minute. The user will just need to first click on “Start” found at the lower left portion of the desktop. Next, you can now search for the program “Control Panel”. Once this is found, click on it. You will be presented with different categories; you must then look for the “Appearance and Personalization” option and choose this. After clicking this, you can choose the “Desktop Background” option where you may pick from numerous wallpaper designs provided at the very instant that the computer is bought. Users, on the other hand, may choose to use personal pictures as wallpapers. This can be done by simply right clicking on the picture of interest and choosing the option “set as desktop background”. In this age of digital cameras and phones and tablets with built-in cameras, turning your picture into a wallpaper is as simple as transferring the digital photo file into your computer and choosing it as your wallpaper. File formats used by digital cameras are supported by all operating systems so you shouldn’t have any problems doing this. Of course, if you want to get fancy, you can use photo editing software to crop the picture, change the hue, make a collage, or do just about anything you want with the picture before making it your wallpaper.

You may love your Windows wallpaper, but that is not to say that the built-in wallpapers in Macs are any less great. In fact, you probably do want some of those wallpapers on your Windows PC. If you do, there’s no need to feel so bad because porting Mac wallpapers to a Windows-based machine is really easy.

If you wish to port any Mac wallpaper on your Windows PC, there’s no need for specialized programs to do any file conversions because the wallpapers are actually perfectly compatible for both operating systems. That means that all you really need to do is locate the wallpaper file you like on your Mac and the copy it to your PC. It’s that easy.

Changing wallpapers, downloading new ones, tweaking settings like rotating your wallpaper and even making customized ones is not a new thing to most of us. In fact, all you need to do is look over your workmate’s shoulder and you’ll probably see just how few people do not bother to change their wallpaper at all. With wallpapers being so ubiquitous, rarely do we even think twice about them unless we get bored and feel like getting a new one. When it comes to wallpapers you just don’t expect irritating issues to crop up.

The good thing is that security issues are really not a concern with wallpapers, except perhaps for the occasional free downloadable wallpapers that actually come with malware. The most common wallpaper issue is actually quite the minor problem of not having it show up at all or having the wrong one stubbornly displayed. Fixes for wallpapers not showing up are quite easy to follow though. So in case it happens to you there’s no need to fret.

We quite agree that the Windows 8 start screen looks nice as is, but if you like everything you own to be customized the several color schemes and stock background images you can choose from won’t make you happy. Thankfully there’s Decor8!

Decor8 is an app from Stardock that you can use to fully customize your Windows 8 start screen, from the ability to use your own background images to new color schemes and custom tile settings. You can even use multiple images to create a slideshow for your background so that you don’t get tired of your wallpaper.

While wallpaper for Windows on PCs are easily customizable and so won’t cost you a thing, those keen on Decor8 might be a bit disappointed to hear that it is only free for 30 days during the trial period. After that you’ll need to pay $4.99 to continue using the Beta version.

So the next time you’re feeling frustrated about not being able to use your kids’ cute pictures or your travel photos of picturesque houses in Osaka on your Windows 8 phone, remember that you can always download Decor8.

The popular website/blog Smashing Magazine has been known for offering resources and advice to web developers and web designers and recently they featured a post on Desktop Wallpaper Calendar. This is particularly interesting because with every other available wallpaper out there, Smashing Magazine is wants to step it up a notch and channel people’s creativity. Their goal is to find talented designers who are creating wallpapers that are different from the norm. This creativity mission has been going on for a successful four years now. For the September edition, I have picked out three of my favorite submitted design. This is no easy feat as all of them are unique and beautiful.
