Lurking Dangers

There are dangers when looking for free stuff over the internet which normally comes with the term “FREE”. Everybody loves free stuff and hackers know that people will surely give into this weakness especially in today’s recession wrecked world. Malware loaded screen savers that may look legitimate but may exist as a hijacked site that unknowingly scans your computer for vulnerabilities. May it be the browser or operating system as a whole, any security hole is found and exploited by hackers and their denizens that seek to rob you of information such as log-in information along with their passwords.
Once exploited, your desktop is turned into a zombie, part of a network of hijacked computers that spreads the infection much like the H1N1 pandemic sweeping the globe. News of malware sites like PriceWert and the FTC clashing are proof that malware is out there and to go on the internet without protection is a sure way to get infected. Anti-viruses and other programs that block such intruders from ever getting into your computer. One way to get protected from such programs is to keep your system updated through auto-update facilities. Even anti-viruses and other protection programs need updates to keep them well-armed against the growing problems that infects most unprotected computers the world over.
