Wallpaper styles are as different as people are. They use photographs, drawings, 3Ds and patterns with complex gradients. Its wise to leave plain areas in the wallpaper so that icons can be clearly seen. Images used for wallpapers are usually raster graphics. Using the same size as the display resolution so it covers the whole background. Set proportional in a 4:3 ratio. Widescreen (16:9 or 16:10) monitors have different aspect ratio requirements for wallpaper. Wallpapers are also available in double-width versions, for displaying on multi-monitor computers, where the image appears to fill two monitors. PNG and JPEG formats are the most common file formats to use for wallpapers. Some operating systems, such as Mac OS, KDE, GNOME, support vector wallpapers, particularly PICT and SVG file formats.
